I know you’re going to Costco to get your thanksgiving apple pie
It’s tempting, I know. But if you’re considering baking homemade pie it’s not too late to get your apples from Brightonwoods Orchard. Open until November 20th, this family owned small business is a must visit. Did I mention they have incredible cinnamon sugar donuts?

“Brightonwoods Orchard is a family run orchard featuring over 150 apple varieties, seeded and seedless grapes, quince and fruit pears. We are located in Southeastern Wisconsin on one of Wisconsin’s Rustic Roads between Milwaukee and Chicago

Brightonwoods Orchard does all the apple picking and sorting for you

“Brightonwoods Orchard was established in 1950 as a weekend retreat. Initially a hobby orchard, it grew from 3 acres to 18.5 acres, on 4,000 dwarf and semi-dwarf trees. Brightonwoods’ emphasis is on preserving existing heirloom varieties and growing standard and newer commercial varieties.

A collaborative venture with AeppelTreow Winery began in 2001. The winery specializes in apple and pear fruit wines, hard ciders and dessert wines. An on-site distillery allows the winery to also produce special brandies and sorghum whiskey.

Brightonwoods Orchard is located on one of Wisconsin’s scenic Rustic Roads between Milwaukee and Chicago. It is immediately adjacent to the Richard J. Bong State Recreation Area, a managed prairie with hiking trails, campgrounds and visitors’ center.”

I’m excited to be a part of this exhibition. Ope I’m excited to be a part of this exhibition. Opening this Saturday 1-3.

Tall Grass Arts Association will present a new exhibit,

WINDOWS AND DOORS,

opening with an Artists’ Reception on Saturday, January 21, 2023.

The very large show, with over 100 works, is filled with a broad range of artists’ views and interpretations of windows and doors – studies of them and their structure, design, unique patterns, textures, time- and weather-affected transformations, as well as their positions in history, religion, urban and rural life.

The artists give us, through styles meticulously realistic to beautifully abstracted, views looking into, out of, or through windows and doors, and at the buildings, rooms, landscapes, animals and people observed or imagined on either side of them.

With a variety of drawings, paintings, photographs, prints, digital, mixed media, and glass works, artists create not only representations of actual objects and places, but also several based on symbolic meanings and metaphors that windows and doors can suggest.
