Culture: Cafe 1001

Experience the best of East London music and street fashion.

Photography by Rebecca Hill

If you want to know what you will be wearing, the music you will listen to and the artists you will inspired by two years…I highly recommend traveling to Bricklane in London specifically for a visit to Cafe 1001. A mecca for people watching; along with great coffee and a DJ spinning records; this establishment is the cornerstone of this East London neighborhood.

“Though an established entertainment venue, we see ourselves as a creative playground for both well-known and up and coming artists We put acts on every night in two rooms ranging from live bands and DJs to all night raves.”

While having coffee, my friend and I found ourselves wishing there was this of place where we went to college …then we looked at each other… Thank god there wasn’t a place like this.

Café 1001 is situated on Dray Walk, part of the Old Truman Brewery Building and is a brilliant focal point for all of Shoreditch.

Choosing what photos to sell

Paris view
Evening in Paris

One of the challenges of deciding which images to sell online is leaving out images that are meaningful to me personally, but don’t resonate with other people. Every now and then the two come together, and my clients love an image just as much as I do. After a day of exploring Paris neighborhoods and art galleries with my dear friends @dagmara.mituniewicz and @susanna_vom_golab  we took a much needed coffee break with French pastries, of course, on the steps above this city view. Simply sitting, watching people go by, with two people you love is what makes life beautiful. And what makes this one of my favorite photos.

The Magic of Travel Photography

I’ve posted before that one of my favorite things about sharing my travel photography is also telling the story behind the final image. This photo is titled “Rasta prayer flags” Not only do they depict elements of the Ethiopian flag during the rule Haile Selassiei they were hanging in rastafari campground in Mal Pais Costa Rica. During my time there it was simply a small vegan restaurant and a group of truly kind people living in tents…steps away from some of the best waves a surfer could ask for. Needless to say my time at Roca Mar were some of my happiest. Somehow, I think it comes through the photograph ❤️???.

I’m excited to be a part of this exhibition. Ope I’m excited to be a part of this exhibition. Opening this Saturday 1-3.

Tall Grass Arts Association will present a new exhibit,

WINDOWS AND DOORS,

opening with an Artists’ Reception on Saturday, January 21, 2023.

The very large show, with over 100 works, is filled with a broad range of artists’ views and interpretations of windows and doors – studies of them and their structure, design, unique patterns, textures, time- and weather-affected transformations, as well as their positions in history, religion, urban and rural life.

The artists give us, through styles meticulously realistic to beautifully abstracted, views looking into, out of, or through windows and doors, and at the buildings, rooms, landscapes, animals and people observed or imagined on either side of them.

With a variety of drawings, paintings, photographs, prints, digital, mixed media, and glass works, artists create not only representations of actual objects and places, but also several based on symbolic meanings and metaphors that windows and doors can suggest.
